FAQ
woof fences
fence wood

The wood fences presented on the following pages, developed by Charles Prowell Woodworks, have been designed to complement the Garden Gate, extending the similar workmanship and design beyond the entry to encompass an entire fenceline. They are often used for those properties whose investments warrant something beyond the carpenter's fence, reflecting the same care and quality exemplified in the interior and exterior architecture of the residence.
There are no showrooms. We do not stock inventory. We are not open to the public. Showrooms are for products produced in quantity, more often than not, by an overseas source. Prowell's Wood Fence Panels are for those of you willing to invest the same time and care you invested in selecting your furniture. After all, we apply the same high-quality joinery techniques and artisan standards to dressing your landscape as to your foyer. As illustrated within these galleries, the Craftsman fence designs can at once establish the architectural precedent of a home's identity.
While offering flexibility in designs and dimensions, our modular fence panels are built for maximum durability and ease of installation. The fence panels are of western red cedar, constructed with tenons, dadoes, and high-strength adhesives. The individual length is configured to the provided dimensions of any fenceline less posts and gate stops. Each panel is a maximum of 5-ft in length. Panel prices do not include posts, post caps, or installation (Step-by-step installation methods are provided). Recommended post size: Surfaced 6 x 6 ( 5-1/2" x 5-1/2")
The methods of construction will not be discussed in detail. Although we receive a bevy of inquiries requesting plans, or from builders and carpenters posing as homeowners desperate for details to ultimately produce their knock-offs, we are tight-lipped. Not because the Fence Designs are the cure to cancer, but more because of the time and investment in their development--subtle amendments and improvements that ensure the fence maintains its beauty and structural integrity long long after you open the crate.

For 28 years, Charles Prowell Woodworks has been committed to the development of new and innovative products. Our innovations have led, within the landscape division, to a distinctive selection of works available only within these galleries: In addition to the Garden Gate and Wood Fence Panels, view Prowell's Driveway Gate designs that, upon their
arrival in 1996, have set the standard for an entire industy.  The Garden Arbor and Arbor Trellis exemplify at once a level of focused workmanship, with a hint of whimsy. The Wood Bench series continues with the patterned layouts and flush-joined grids so inimitable to the CPW line. The recent Landscape Lighting and Gate Columns are an exciting entry to any landscape. The Planter Boxes, Raised Garden Beds, Decorative Garden Divider Panels, Garden Pavilions. . . all stemming from a designing and building apprenticeship that began in the 1950's and that has matured with a balanced and unabated approach overthe ensuing decades. Those products featured in this section of the web site are, of course, limited to your exterior architectural needs. To view the full scope of designs and offerings by CPW, please follow the links at the top of the page.
Each gate or fence commission, upon receipt of advance payment, is set up with a tail-site to prowellwoodworks.com. As an effort to simplify our communications, the site will feature the project's dimensioned drawings; statements and invoices; site photos, if available; completion photos; and whatever optional considerations that might arise. Beyond the obvious advantages of dismissing the need for faxes and mail, the site allows us to speak on the phone while viewing at once the common data online.
Although we retain the right to use site images and in-progress installation photographs to promote our business, our patron's physical street addresses are strictly guarded.  For security
and rights-to-privacy, we do not share personal information to third-party venders, mailing lists,or the general public.
