CUSTOM WOOD GATE 16
Featuring an upper grid of approximately 5″-7″ square, with lower horizontal planks stabilized with our signature thru-tenon running loose through each of the lower planks. Loose, because we don’t want to impede the seasonal breathing on these rails.

WOOD GATE DESIGN 16
Mill Valley, CA
Let’s call this a Craftsman revisited/American Farmhouse style. Low pitch, extended eaves, divided windowpanes, full casing trim. So where does the horizontally-oriented fence fit in? It seems at odds with everything else. Far too rustic given the manicured condition of the residence itself. Perhaps they should have gone deeply in debt by commissioning prowell to continue the garden gate design 16 throughout the fence panels. On the other hand, there are no rules; It’s your house and at your discretion to have fun–while staying within your budget. Prowell will not visit you in debtor’s prison.

WOODEN GARDEN GATES–PROGRESS
Pre-assembly, showing the various joints specific to this gate design 16, as well as the long loose thru-tenon partially fitted. The gate assembly is approached in stages, with the upper two rails and grids as stage one, followed by the lower mid-rails and the long loose tenon fitted in place, followed by the two vertical frame stiles camped/glued to all the rail tenons. With each stage requiring a set-stage for the glue to dry. So the actual hours of labor is deceiving if juxtaposed to day between each glue-up.
