Arbor #8 was designed to support mature climbing vines. The cross-corbels are notched and mortised into the arbor truss.

Arbor #8-4 features a few variations:

• The cross-corbel vine extensions are mortised to the truss ( 2-1/4″ high x 2″ deep x 1-5/8″ thick). Provided with a small fluted depression to help seat and train small vines.
• The ends of the arbor flair out beyond the short post extensions, as with arbor #8-2.
• The short post extensions are part of the assembly, at 3″-4″+/- high.
• The low-profile mounting cap option have eliminated the aprons and top tier overhang. The bottom of the caps are ploughed out 3/4″ deep to accept the grade posts.
• The mounting bolt extends through to the post for instant installation, replacing the earlier, more cumbersome system of threaded rod.

The grade posts shown are not included. These are simply props we use in the shop to photograph the arbors.

A single segmented joint for Arbor #8 with keystones.

The Keystone is 3-1/2″ thick, rising 1/4″ proud of the arbor truss on all sides. Double mortise and tenon joinery. Keystone for arbors #8, #9, #14, and #15 are +$375 per keystone

With a truss at only 3-1/2″ width, dual slip tenons provide the needed strength. 3-½” width trusses are for those sites using surfaced 4×4 posts.
