Our patron, who on a visit to the shop touched on variety of subjects: a decade of sailing around the world on a wood boat with his wife and young daughters in the 1970’s that had him in Buenos Aries during the Dirty War, at the exactly same time Charles was there. Perhaps the only visiting westerners  in all of Buenos Aries at that ominous point in Argentina’s history.

Although there are standardized specs, we will normally ask you for your preferred seat height, seat depth, and the overall bench width.

There is a distinction between power sanding and hand-planing. With quality planes–Veritas or Lee Valley–and perfectly honed blades, the planed face is preferred.

Charles occupied with the original #23 prototype. Although it would be easier to approach the development of a pattern on paper or the computer, Charles relies on what’s in his head. Shown experimenting with a dry layout that will ultimately result in the #23 as we know it today.
