Buying into the maintenance schedule of that and how often the initial finish is allowed to weather out and ultimately settle into the natural weathered look shown here.

This project was finished by the homeowner with a Cabot Stain natural Oil. A short-lived finish requiring annual maintenance. . . long before the development of the WoodRX product now offered by Prowell Woodworks as a Pre-Finish option. A non-toxic product featuring a lifeline of 7-8-years.

No different than coordinating a fashionable ensemble, the artful wood fence must comply with the surroundings–simple open pickets and subtle joinery do justice to pine trees, mountain views, and the Truckee River.

In essence, the only separation on either side of the yard fence is the existence of a lawn, and if there is an actual function to a lawn fence in such surroundings, we might consider the very real issue of 600-pound black bears drawn close by the scent of breakfast.

It would be fun to see winter photos of this property, where annual snowfall totals can vary between 400-650 inches (30 – 50-ft). The fence panels are only 6′ high.

Style fence panel 2 continued with #2-9 shown with the tighter spacing at 3/4″, limiting visibility, at 6-ft distance, to within 5-degrees on center. So if you stand off 5 degrees to the left or right of any spaced picket, the visibility is obscured by the thickness of the next picket.

Reducing the spacing to 3/4″ allows a more private enclosure while maintaining the basic elements of design. Standing more than 5 degrees off center and the visibility between any picket spacing is eliminated.
