T raditional architecture seemingly at home with a rather un-traditional arbor and gate. Garden Art–and that’s what this is–by its very existence serves an undefinable purpose. A gate, and arbor, that are set front and center, exposed to all passersby. Not serving with any functionality beyond that ephemeral reward to those who simply appreciate its existence.

The neighbor walks his dog and pauses. The dog strains the leash but the neighbor has forgotten the dog and perhaps even the spousal disagreement that spawned the dog-walk in the first place to consume this apparatus occupying a space within this landscape that cannot go unnoticed. The longer he stands, staring, transfixed, the  impact of a larger universe gradually supplants the minutia that consumed yesterday, and the day before. . .

Wenge inlay and black acrylic rods establish a pattern that is anything but established.
